6S METHODOLOGY IN THE WORKPLACE

The 6S method is a system that aims to promote and sustain high levels of productivity and safety throughout an organization. This system builds on the 5S method, which is a continuous improvement methodology used in manufacturing.
The 5S method includes the principles sort, set, shine, standardize and sustain.
The 6S method includes the 5S principles plus the element of safety. Besides manufacturing, you can use 6S in industries such as mining, construction, transportation, finance, warehousing, office, maintenance etc.

SORT	Throw away all useless & waste material from the workplace
SET IN ORDER	Everything in their proper place for quick access
SHINE	Maintain the workplace neat and clean
STANDARDISATION	Constantly keep order at the workplace and make it habitual
SUSTAIN	Practice 6S daily and audit for continued success
SAFETY	Use all safety equipment and maintain them in a well manner. Safety should be included at each level of 6S implementation.
